Strapping bands enable quick and trouble free strapping on manual appliances or on semi-automatic or automatic machines working at high speed. Strapping bands can be connected by metal or plastic fasteners or by ultrasound or heat welding. One of the advantages of plastic strapping band is the low weight, adaptation to the form of packed object, resistance against moisture and most of common chemical substances; they do not corrode.
PET stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate and is a high quality plastic resin in Polyester. PET Strapping has a higher tensile strength than PP (Polypropylene) strapping and its characteristics are long life, resistance to ultraviolet light and is weatherproof. One of the great advantages is the high elasticity, therefore allowing the strap to maintain its tensile state even if the package shrinks after being strapped up. This advantage has also made PET straps a successful candidate in replacing steel strapping in various applications.
Steel is the oldest and highest tensile strength strapping. It is available in a variety of widths and thicknesses as well as variations in the grade of steel. Steel is used for heavy duty holding where high strength and minimal stretch are desired. Surface finishes for steel strap include: paint, paint and wax, bluing or zinc and wax. The wax is used to better transmit the tension around the bundle and for use with certain types of tensioners. Common applications include steel coils, bundles of metal, baling wire, bricks and pavers, and roll end-binding. Steel Strapping is sold by weight rather than length, due to the natural expansion and contraction of steel in the manufacturing process.
